Total Duration: 150 minutes (No sectional Time Limit)

Marking System: +1 for correct, 0 for incorrect

This was the first online SLAT. As far as exam conduction is concerned, the authorities have done a fantastic job in providing a smooth interface, infrastructure, and glitch-free test conduction. The pattern and question format remained the same as last year.

Section 1: Logical Reasoning

No of Questions: 30

This section was markedly different from last year. There were questions of Statement-assumption, statement-conclusion or Statement-argument. There were three to four questions based on Odd one out which were word-based, two to three questions from Analogies of which some questions were Numbers based. Two questions from Calendars, one from topics such as Assertion Reasoning, Arithmetic puzzles, Inference, Cause & Effects, Syllogism and Critical Reasoning.

Ideal attempts: 25+
Ideal correct: 22+
Time to be allotted: 35 minutes

Section 2: Legal Reasoning

No of Questions: 30

This section was dominated by Principle-Fact based questions. There were 25 questions from Principle-Fact, a couple of questions were from International Law and Constitution. Overall the questions were easy, but the options were quite tricky which made the section slightly difficult.

Level of difficulty: Moderate
Ideal attempts: 22+
Ideal correct: 20+
Time to be allotted: 40 minutes

Section 3: Analytical Reasoning

No of Questions: 30

Unlike last year, this year, the section of Analytical Reasoning can be termed easiest. There were two sets based on Puzzles, one of which was based on Blood Relations and the other was based on Arrangement. These had three and five questions respectively. There were six questions based on Series of which three were based on Number series and three were based on Alphabetical series. Four to five questions were from Coding-Decoding, three questions of Blood Relations, two questions of Mental Ability and one Directions. Seven to eight questions were based on concepts of Maths i.e. Permutation & Combinations, Probability, Percentage, Numbers and Data Interpretation.

Section 4: Reading Comprehension

No of Questions: 30

This section had five passages of Reading Comprehension. One passage on Environment & Forest coverage had seven questions. One passage on Utopia & Judiciary had five questions. Apart from these, there were passages based on Consumerism, Emergency situation in the Maldives and one on Khap Panchayat & Honour Killing. The passage based on Utopia can be termed as Difficult. Most of the questions were Direct, of which two were based on Vocabulary.

Section 5: General Knowledge

No of Questions: 30

This section had a lot of surprises for aspirants. Unlike last year where half of the questions were based on Current Affairs, this year almost all the questions were based on Current Affairs. Unlike last year where there was no question from Major Awards Category, this year, There were six to seven questions based on Awards & Prizes, which included Arjuna Award, Padma Vibhushan, Crystal Award, Pulitzer Prize, Wolfson Prize etc. Aspirants were also asked to identify a person in the photograph. Apart from these, there were standard Current Affairs questions such as Lawyer of Kulbhushan Jadhav at ICJ, Countries that have granted citizenship to Julian Assange and SOFIA, Chairman of Censor Board etc.

Ideal correct: 15+
Time to be allotted: 10 minutes

Cut-Offs:

It is very difficult to predict exact cut-off for each college as the number of applicants is yet not disclosed. But, on the basis of cut-offs given in last two years and comparing the level of difficulty of the exam with that of last year, we can predict the following cut-offs.
