In the first category Awards and Recognition, we talk about the Japanese government’s decision to honor former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with the country’s highest decoration “the Collar of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum” posthumously.
India-born Gita Gopinath became the first woman and second Indian to feature on the ‘wall of former chief economists’ of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In the Persons in News category, Dinesh Gunawardena, a veteran politician and a close ally of the Rajapaksa family, was appointed as Sri Lanka’s 15th prime minister amidst an unprecedented economic and political crisis.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation after he was abandoned by ministers and most of his Conservative lawmakers.
Under the section Places in News, in the month of August, four male and four female African cheetahs will be imported from Namibia, and another 12 from South Africa, for a soft release in a compartmentalized enclosure ready at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh to establish the cheetah into its “historical range”.
In the category of news from the field of Business, Economy, and Industrial Sector, billionaire Elon Musk pulled the plug on his much talked about and controversial $44 billion deal to buy Twitter, accusing the company of “misleading” statements about the number of fake accounts.
