The School of Management at IIT Bombay, through its flagship Master of Management (M. Mgmt) program seeks to develop managers for an integrated understanding of all business functions. The rigorous curriculum of the Master of Management program has a judicious blend of courses that provide an in-depth understanding of the operational and strategic aspects of management. One unique feature of the program is that apart from the regular courses on Finance, Accounting, Operations and HR, SJM SOM prepares for technology management with core courses like Technology Policy, R&D Management and Managing technology transfer. Also, innovative courses like “Mission, Vision and Leadership” provide opportunity for the student to work under the mentorship of Indian Business leaders and to hone their leadership skills.

Batch Size: 120

Batch Composition: The class of 2017-19 has a total strength of 111 students. Out of them 46% are females. 18% of the batch are fresh graduates and the rest have work experience. Out of the students having work experience, around half of them have experience of 24 – 36 months while one third has work experience of 12-24 months. Electronic engineering graduates are maximum in number with 39% of the batch, followed by CSE/IT engineers at 23% and Mechanical Engineers at 19%.

Placements: 53 companies participated in the final placement process of the batch 2016-18, out of them there were 20 new recruiters. There was a total of 53 Pre-Placement Offers (PPO) for the students of the batch 2016-18. The highest salary recorded was Rs 32.4 lakhs with an average salary for the batch at Rs 19.06 Lakhs. The average salary for the top 20% students was Rs 25.24 Lakhs and that of the top 50% was Rs 22.59 Lakhs. The maximum number of offers were received from the IT and Manufacturing sector companies, closely followed by BFSI companies. A snapshot of the sector wise recruiters are as follows:

Admission Process: Each candidate applying to this college must have taken CAT. The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for shortlisting the candidates to be called for Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview. The final selection will be made based on the candidate’s performance in the CAT as well as in the Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience).
