The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at IIT Madras is a two-year, full-time, seven-quarter program aimed at training graduates to become capable managers. Students are provided with a well-rounded learning experience in terms of management theory and actual practice. The program involves classroom teaching, case discussions, hands-on management internship in industry and project work. The program comprises seven quarters of course work, with four quarters for the first year and three quarters for the second year. The program is structured in such a way that students can join the industry at the same time with their peers from other business schools.  Each quarter is usually eight weeks duration.

Batch Size: 65 (Batch 2017-19)

Batch Composition: The batch of 2019 has 65 students representing pan India with 35% female students. The batch is diverse with students having an educational background with B.E., BCOM, B.Tech, B.A., B.Sc., B.B.A., B. Pharm, and B.B.M degrees. The 2017-19 batch has 74% of students from an engineering background and the rest from a non-engineering background. The average work experience of the batch is 19 months with students having work experience in sectors like Banking, Chemicals, Education, Finance, FMCG, IT, Hospitality, Construction, Manufacturing, Logistics, Real Estate, Power and Oil & Gas.

Placements: During the final placement for the batch 2016-18, the average CTC offered was Rs 12.4 Lakhs. The highest CTC offered was Rs 17.5 Lakhs. The average CTC for the top 10%, 20%, and 50% was Rs 16.63, Rs 15.82 and Rs 14.19 Lakhs per annum respectively. 43% of the students were offered Pre-Placement Offers (PPO) and 2 International offers were also accepted. 47% of the batch joined the IT/ITES industry and 22% joined the BFSI industry.

Admission Process: Initial shortlisting of candidates, for sending invitation letters for Interview/GD, shall be done based on their performance in CAT. The final merit for making offers of admission to the Program will be based on their aggregate performance in the Written Test (CAT) followed by Group Discussion, Interview, and their Work Experience.
