Master of Business Administration (MBA), the flagship program of IIT Kharagpur is a full-time four-semester (2 year) residential program for graduate engineers and Masters’ degree holders in science, economics and commerce, intending to pursue management careers in India and abroad. The MBA curriculum has evolved to be among the best in the country combining the traditional strengths of IIT in technical education with modern management philosophy. Teaching techniques include a judicious mix of lectures, case-studies, group projects and workshops. Many electives from several departments of IIT are available for a student to pursue her/his individual interests in greater depth.

Batch Size: 120

Batch Composition: The 2016-18 batch comprised of only 23% female students as compared to 77% male students. Among the engineering students, 31% were from EEE and Mechanical background, 22% were from CSE/IT and 22% were from ECE background. Among the students with prior work experience, 45% have work experience between 12-23 months and 36% have work experience between 24-36 months.

Placements: The placement process of 2016-18 saw 111 students getting a total of 126 offers, including 23 PPOs. A total of 68 firms, including 35 first time recruiters participated in the placement process. The highest international CTC was Rs 27 Lakhs and that of the Domestic was Rs 24.03 Lakhs. The average CTC for the batch was Rs 16.29 Lakhs and the Median CTC was Rs 14.76 Lakhs. The lowest CTC offered was Rs 8.75 Lakhs. A snapshot of the sector wise recruiters are as follows:

Admission Process: Each candidate applying to this college must have taken CAT. The Institute will decide the section-wise as well as total cut-off marks which will be used for shortlisting the candidates to be called for Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview. The final selection will be made based on the candidate’s performance in the CAT as well as in the Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview (which factors in the past academic record and relevant work experience).
