The course content at JBIMS is common for all students in the first year as per the guidelines of Mumbai University. Specialization is offered in the second year (MMS II) when core subjects are taken up by students. The institute also offers electives throughout the course. Candidates are required to take a practical approach to learning by doing project work, field studies, market research, games applying management concepts and case studies. Student’s participation in the course is evaluated based on his performance throughout the semester like participation in the class in various activities, quizzes, surprise and pre-announced mid-term tests. There is a written (theory) exam carrying an almost equal weightage at the end of the term/semester. The assessment of the student is done by the institute for the first year (MMS I) and by institute/university in the second year.

Batch Composition: The batch of 2016-18, had 29% female students as compared to 71% male students. 27% of the batch were fresh graduates and 44% percent students were having work experience of 1-3 years. As far as academic background is concerned, 28% students had computer background, 31% had electronics background and 19% had mechanical background in their graduation. Among the experience students, 38% had experience in IT, 13% in BFSI and 12% in Education Industry.

Placements: For the 2016-18 batch, close to 50% of the batch got PPO/PPI from reputed companies. Altogether 69 companies visited the campus during placement and out of them 20 companies visited for the first time. The highest package offered for the 2016-18 batch was Rs 30 Lakhs and the average package for the entire batch was Rs 18.91 Lakhs. The median salary for the entire batch stood at Rs 17 Lakhs. The top 105 students got an average of Rs 25.38 Lakhs and the top 30% got an average of Rs 21.68 Lakhs.A snapshot of the domain wise recruiters are as follows:
